Family Tree Questions

July 26th, 2012

Hello fellow Jordans, I am from the Jordan branch that sprouted in the Bethel, Maine area and can trace my line back to Rev. Robert and Sarah. (myself>Arnold>Orlando>Charles>Richard>Abraham>Humphrey>James I>Robert>John>Rev Robert.)

My questions lie with the spouses of James b.1718 in Cape Elizabeth and his son Humphrey b. 1751 in Danville.

Some records indicate James married Elizabeth Jordan – which one would assume may have been a 2nd or 3rd cousin, but I can find no trace of her lineage back to Rev Robert.

Humphrey married Joanna Briant (Bryant?) and I am unable to find anything on her either. There are numerous spelling variations with Joanna’s first and last name, which may be part of the problem. I have searched online and own a copy of the Jordan Memorial but nothing has turned up as yet.

Would anyone have answers or suggestions that might point me in the right direction?
I would greatly appreciate it.

Troy – I am not a good genealogy resource but want to offer the following comment for what it is worth.
If the Robert you are referring to is the second son of John, it is my understanding he had no sons, only two daughters would make it improbable he has a son James. Of course Roland G. Jordan and Norman R. Jordan are far more knowledgable in this area than I.
